In this session, participants are invited to learn about the importance of inclusion of students with disabilities and the benefits of creating inclusive classroom communities for students of all abilities. Participants will be trained on the best practices for thinking and speaking about disabilities and differences and will explore free resources that help promote inclusive practices in the classroom.
Katy Fattaleh has served as an elementary school teacher, technology coach, and instructional coach for grades pre-k-8 during her time working in public education. She is also a curriculum writer, contributing to the Next Generation Storylines Project, and an educational consultant. Katy is well-versed in educational technology tools and the authentic integration of technology across the curriculum. She now serves as Senior Program Director for The Nora Project, where she conceptualizes, writes, and oversees new and existing programs. Katy graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University and has a Master’s of Technology Education from National Louis University.
The Nora Project (TNP) is a local 501c3 nonprofit organization with a mission of teaching empathy by sparking friendships between students and their peers with disabilities. TNP offers classroom-based programs suitable for students in preschool through high school that teach about empathy and disability in an effort to normalize differences and demystify disability.
